One killed, 15 injured in landslides in Uttarakhand

A woman was buried alive and 15 people were injured when landslides caused by continuous rains at Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway in Chamoli district early this morning.

The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital.  

A  search operation has been launched to rescue people who might have be trapped under the debris of the landslides but the heavy rain since yesterday, had hampered its progress.

Meanwhile, the landslides have also flattened a tourist resort and a camp of Directorate General of Border Roads (DGBR).
