Kanda's anticipatory bail plea rejected

A huge hope of justice for the family of ex-airhostess Geetika Sharma seen today as Delhi High Court rejected the anticipatory bail application of former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda, main accused in the suicide case.

Kanda, who has resigned after his name comes up in the case, had sought bail after the police declared him absconding. Six police teams are on the lookout for him. Kanda's homes in Delhi and Sirsa were raided earlier on Thursday.

His lawyer insists that there is no evidence that Kanda instigated Geetika to commit suicide.

Aruna Chaddha, arrested for her alleged role in the case, was on Thursday remanded to two-day police custody by a Delhi court for interrogation after investigators said she was not cooperating in the probe.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Devender Kumar Jangala sent Chaddha to police custody till August 11 after police said that her sustained custodial interrogation is required to unearth the entire conspiracy.

During the hearing the police said that Chaddha's name was clearly written in Geetika's suicide note and her interrogation is required as she is not cooperating in the investigation.
