HIV vaccines to undergo human trials: Katoch


All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is all set to undergo a clinical trial of HIV vaccines on human by next year. 
Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) V M Katoch informed this in a convention on ‘Tribal Health Research Forum’ organised by ICMR-arm Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC).
“Tests on animals have been completed and the results are promising. Hopefully, human trials could start early next year,” said Katoch.
Since the last decade, the AIIMS had been working on the vaccine that could kill the HIV cells and boost immunity system in the body for a long term, under Dr Pradeep Seth of the Department of Microbiology.
However, the research was discontinued after his retirement.
