Ten Congress MPs have written to party President Sonia Gandhi suggesting that Rahul Gandhi be appointed Leader of the Lok Sabha, as the position vacated by Pranab Mukherjee, by becoming the President of India.
The letter, written by Odisha MP Bhakta Charan Das and also signed by nine other MPs, reportedly says that making Rahul the Leader of the House is the "need of the hour".
While talking to media Das said, “Rahul Gandhi is the only leader of Dalit, Adivasi, and Youth. He is capable by all means and is the only hope for the marginalized sections of the society.”
He also said that any other role is not justifying for the instrument like him.
While congress, is considering Sushil Kumar Shinde for the post. Recently, senior Congress leaders like Salman Khurshid and Digvijaya Singh too have said the party is waiting for Mr Gandhi to officially accept a larger role. It is now going to be a tough choice for the party President Sonia Gandhi to choose the better option for the post.
