HC to hear the plea of Pinki’s Rights

The Calcutta High Court will hear a Public-Interest Litigation (PIL) filed against violation of athlete Pinki Pramanik's Rights and dignity. The PIL filed by RS Chattopadhyay has hit out at still keeping her in police custody.

A day before the West Bengal Human Rights Commission ordered a probe into the allegations of Human Right violations of the athlete and sought a report within a week from the state police chief and the state Home Secretary.

The High Court yesterday permitted a PIL to be moved on the alleged harassment of Asian Games gold medallist Pinki Pramanik. A division bench presided by Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court J N Patel today allowed Bharati Mutsuddi, a former West Bengal Women's Comission member, permission to move a PIL before the court after she mentioned the plight of Pramanik.

Pinki Pramanik has been accused of being a male and raping her former partner and is currently in judicial custody since June 14. Many people from across the nation also condemned the Multi Media Service (MMS)  of her alleged medical test that goes viral on the internet.
