Fifteen days after their separation surgery and just three days after their first birthday, one of Betul’s s conjoined twins, Aradhana passed away. Aradhana was doing worse than her sister Stuti and she died after two heart attacks.
On Thursday, at around 8 pm, Aradhana had her first attack, but the doctors managed to revive her. Minutes later, her heart rate fell again, and she had a second attack.
Aradhana developed seticemia (infection in her blood) after the surgery was performed to separate her from Stuti with whom she was joined at liver and heart. The conjoined twins were operated on June 20 by a team of experts including 23 doctors from India and abroad.
Top doctors from India and Australia had successfully operated upon the twins in a complex and over-12-hour-long operation on June 20.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who later visited the twins on their first birthday, had donated Rs. 20 lakh from the Chief Minister's discretionary fund for the duo's expensive surgery.
