Dalits stage topless protest in Delhi

The AICC headquarters at 24, Akbar Road on Monday witnessed a topless protest by over 50 tribal youth.

The youth walked all the way from Bhagana village in Hisar district to reach Delhi on Monday to protest alleged excesses against Dalits by Jats in Haryana.

The 50 odd residents of the Jat-dominated Bhagana village of Hisar district met AICC general secretary in-charge for Haryana, B K Hariprasad and submitted him a memorandum alleging that Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is not paying attention to their grievance.

The shirtless men alleged that a six foot wall had been erected outside their village barring their entry to other villages. Several cases had been slapped against them by the Jats in connivance with the administration.

They said they had sought an appointment with Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda, but in vain.
The villagers had also submitted a memorandum to President Pratibha Patil on June 12.
