Gurudwara shootout: PM urged US for Inquiry


Seven people including attacker were killed and at least 20 were injured in an attack on a Gurudwara during Sunday morning prayers in Wisconsin, United States. The shooting was occurred at around 11 am local time.

Police said, while four people were gunned down inside the Gurudwara, three including the shooter died outside the shrine. All the  injured have been admitted to Froedtert hospital. It is reported that some injured were in critical condition. About 300 to 400 people were reported to be at the Gurudwara when the incident took place.

 United States President Barack Obama, who was briefed by his top counter terrorism advisor, John Brennan said Sikhs are part of the broader American family.

In the meantime, India said its embassy in Washington was in touch with the US National Security Council. Indian Ambassador Nirupama Rao described the shooting as extremely tragic and said the Embassy is in touch with the National Security Council at White House. She said, an official has been deputed to rush to the site to ascertain the situation on-the-spot.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Monday expressed deep shock and sadness over the shooting at a US gurudwara in which six people were killed. He hoped the US authorities would probe the attack and ensure that such "ghastly events" do not take place in future.
