Heavy rainfall in Bangladesh has set off flash floods and land slides which have killed more than 70 people and stranded about 150,000 people.
Fifteen people were killed in and around the southeastern port city of Chittagong while others were killed inland in an area known as the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Faiz Ahmed said that as rescue operations are on and more people are feared trapped in hillside homes buriesunder heaps of mud.
Further 24 people died in the coastal district of Cox's Bazar near the Myanmar border.Most of the deaths were caused by landslides, wall collapses, lightning strikes and surges of water. Army, police and fire brigade personnel were helping in rescue efforts.
To add more woes, weather officials announced that more heavy rain is expected in the next few days.
