Left- Right bandh hits life in all major cities


The unprecedented hike in petrol prices has helped the Left and the Right to make common cause on Thursday for a nationwide protest, described by BJP and its allies as Bharat Bandh and by Left as All India Protest Day.

This is the second time that the left,  BJP and other non- Congress parties will be coordinating their agitations since the last lok Sabha elections to give the impression of a wider opposition unity on issues concerning people .   

The pawerful bandh paralysed the normal life completly. All the major market of capital are closed.

The silent protest abrupt violent suddenly as over 13 public transport buses were damaged at various places in Pune. In Mumbai, there were reports of stone pelting by protestors that left at least 26 buses of BEST damaged. Protestors reportedly pelted stones at BEST buses in Mulund. However, no injuries were reported so far.



As part of the Bandh, train movement was affected in North India, especially in states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party government has called for Bharat Bandh in UP.

JD(U) President Sharad Yadav was detained in Saharsa in Bihar for leading the protest.  BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and D Raja of Communist Party of India (CPI) were also detained from Capital.
